Firefly Cupcakes

Happy Birthday Keith!! :)

For my hub's birthday, I decided to do Firefly cupcakes because.. Firefly is awesome and so is he. :)

So the sandy environment that they tread upon is made of crushed graham crackers & vanilla frosting. And then Serenity is amongst edible star glitter & chocolate frosting hovering above them. :)

Yay! :) There they are.. Jayne, Mal & Zoe upfront w/ their pistols. Inara, Kaylee & Wash behind them. And then way in back around Book, River & Simon. All made outta fondant... it took a while. :P

Here's a little close-up of Serenity.. which I'm kind of disappointed about. It's made out of chocolate but it would've been cooler if I had time to make an actual like 3D Serenity. Maybe next time... ;) Harder to find time now w/ Baby.. :)

Here's a little close-up of the crew:

Mal w/ his jacket... no suspenders shown unfortunately. I know.. my little guns are pretty weak... I'm not that good at making them accurately. =/

The hero of Canton, the man they calllll Jayyyyynnnneee :) with his awesome hat & huge gun LOL :)

Here's Zoe - ready to back up Mal! :) With her hunny right behind her :)

And "We will call it.... This Land." Wash sportin' his casual button-up and of course, dino in tow. :) Kinda wishin' I made the dino green... oh well! :P

Kaylee!! :) with her wrench and jumpsuit - ready to fix whatever needs fixin! :)

And there's Book with the Good Book. :) It would've been cooler if I could've made his hair bigger.. like when it was ... BIG .. but that would've looked a little weird with the fondant. :)

And there's Inara - being her friendly & pretty self :)

And here's Simon & River... River looks a little lost... which is kinda perfect. haha :) Didn't really mean to make the hair look like dreads.. but ehhh... i think it worked okay. And there's Simon by her side.. looking all doctor-ey. :)

Alrighty - that's all for now! :) Yay! Happy Birthday Keith!

Housewarming Cupcakes...

So Johannes & Heather's Housewarming Shennanigans are going down this Friday so I made some house cupcakes! LOL! :D

Just whipped up some chocolate cupcakes topped w/ ganache and then some vanilla frosting... And then made my little cupcake village... haha :)

It was just little Tiny Bits gum, Toblerone (some with snow on top for their Canadian-ness), marshmallows and chocolate and fruit roll up grass.. hahaha :)

I have something planned for Jeff's birthday.. but I just have no clue when I'll have time to get around to them.. :P These were pretty easy and quick... still gotta find a good challenge.. :)

Victoria's Going Away..

Sooo.. It's Victoria's Going Away party from working at Disney so I made her a lil sweet treat. :) I didn't get very much time to work on anything so I just threw some things together.. =/

A little Triple Chocolate Fudge Cake w/ some Whipped Cream frosting and a thin layer of ganache in between.. Bright, Sparkly pink since she's fun and sassy! :)

Then, since her party was Mexican themed, I made some mini Horchata Cupcakes
topped with some whipped topping, some cinnamon and little red mini chocolate Mickeys..

And also some mini Coconut Cupcakes topped with coconut cream cheese frosting, toasted coconut and pink mini chocolate mickeys...

I can't wait for a challenge! Although.. I found that it's not as easy to bake when you're wearing a baby like a kangaroo.. :)

It's been a while... Cake pops & hubby's cake

Soo!! It's definitely been a while since I've posted last since we've been busy with our baby girl and I really haven't done much baking lately! I've just been whipping up batches of oatmeal-raisin cookies and that's about it! =P

So I figured I'll just post about a couple things that were made right before I popped out a baby. haha :D

*lemon & red velvet cake*

I finally got to try making cake pops for my baby shower :) Pretty easy.. but I'd say the food-color markers weren't really that easy to use.. but good enough! :)

Also I had a inkling for chocolate cake while preggers and my awesome hubby made me one! this is how it turned out:

haha :) he decorated it with some sprinkles I had in the pantry... I think they were cow & dino sprinkles.. <3 cake! *nom*

I will start baking soon! I just have to find some challenging requests... :)

Beer cupcakes for Scott

Happy Birthday Scott!! :)

So... Scott requested beer cupcakes for his birthday a while ago... which I had great plans for! And then... *sigh* well these didn't turn out like I had hoped they would have... oh well! =P

So.. I pretty much made a beer cup casings out of chocolate (which took quite a while...) and in the middle of that are two stacked pineapple cupcakes...

Then for the foam, I used melted marshmallows.. and I guess I got too excited and did a few before the marshmallows fully melted, so there are lumps...

And then I double-coated some Starburst Strawberry Candy Canes (luckily stores are already catering to the Christmas market :)) with a lot of white chocolate for the beer stein handle. You can still kinda see the red stripes =P If there were white candy canes, I totally would've gone with those =P

So then, in order to make sure there would be a spot for the handle, I had to leave room on the side of the beer cup, but unfortunately when adding the foam, it decided to use that missing portion as a lil spout.. haha =P

*sigh* oh well... these probably took me more than several hours and totally didn't turn out like i had hoped... I also wanted to make a couple other things, but these took up so much time... Next time, Scott! ;)

Pizza Ice Cream Cake for Jeff!

Yay! Sooo.. Happy Birthday Jeff! "Hi. I'm Jeff Carnes. I make pizzas!"

Anyways, Jeff makes pizzas and so we figured a pizza cake! Ha! =) But this isn't just cake.. there's ice cream! Yayyyyy :) So pretty much here's the dealio...

It was one cake round on the bottom (French Vanilla), a layer of ganache, and then another cake round on top, except i just emptied out the whole middle - just to leave a crust. And then I filled the middle with vanilla ice cream! (i hope that ends up turning out okay.... hahah :))

Anyways, the toppings are the sauce - strawberry jam (i had to find a red red one... all of them looked so purpley =P), parm cheese - grated white Toblerone which has almond nougats (the normal white chocolate bars kept curling into little balls... they were being difficult =P), pepperoni - marshmallow ends (painted w/ red food coloring/gel), olives - black licorice, and green peppers - green fruit roll ups. I wanted to add sausage (some brownies) but i totally forgot... oh well! :) Quick and easy overall!

Anyways, hope you have a great one Jeff! =) WOOOOOOOOOOOT!

Anyways, hope you have a great one!!! =)

Here's the recipe for the cupcakes & frosting:

Richard's Sky Scraper Cupcakes

Sooo, one of Keith's co-workers was leaving for New York... so I made some sky scraper cupcakes for him!

Made some sky scrapers out of chocolate w/ chocolate cupcakes & vanilla frosting..

And then the lettering is just chewy gobstoppers ... which I heard unfortunately were not so chewy after being in the fridge for some time.. =P And the letters were white chocolate...

Quick and easy! :) Good luck Richard! :)

Here is the owl fam with the baby owls too.. haw haw ;)

Nabaztag Cupcakes

Sooo.. Keith wanted me to make him some Nabaztag Cupcakes for his birthday.. I'm a lil late since I've been soooo busy with work but! I finally did got a few hours... so here they are! Huge army of them...

Here's a few of them...

Anyways.. they're pretty much just yellow cupcakes with lil mini twinkies.. I tried to use the chocolate ones, but it showed thru the fondant =P and then those ears are just like biscuits that I dipped in some chocolate... I was running a lil low on time due to Daylight Savings so I had to paint on their faces.. haha :)

Fun fun! *yawn* time for bed now!

Here's a picture of what they usually look like, they're supposed to like, let you know if something changes or something is good or bad or something... pretty cute! :)

Christmas!! =)

Hurray for Christmas!!!

Sooo this was quite a busy Christmas! Very fun tho and filled with lots of lovin'! hahaha =)

Here are some sugar cookies I made for Keith's grandparents, aunt, uncle & cousins... :)

It was really cool cuz along with some other cookies (peanut butter blossoms & iced lemon shortbread), we got to give another two ducks & chicken through World Vision as part of their gift! =) It was awesome!

What was cool too, was that we got some jam also from them that was received in making a contribution to needy people as well! Hurray for the season of giving! =D

Here's a picture of the snow Bear-Dog that Keith, my brother and I made in Seattle! Woooot for Bear-dogs! =)

We wanted to make it big enough for 5-6 people to sit on... but by the time everyone got back home.. it was too dark to take pictures and the next day we went snowboarding and then he started to melt =P Oh welll!!! It was definitely fun! What an awesome Christmas!

I got a Goat for my Birthday!

Okay - seriously. One of the most awesomest gifts EVER! I seriously was so excited for like 3 hours, around 4 pm, I felt like I needed a serious nap!

So yesterday at our Holiday Team Potluck, my awesome team & bible study & a couple other friends at work... surprised me with a cake for my birthday and a gift! It was the sweetest thing ever!!! Total surprise since they had already taken me out the day before!

But then when they said.. "for your birthday, we got you a goat!" I was like... WHAT?! And then they handed me the certificate that said that I now had a goat...

"a dairy goat for children in countries like Haiti and Kenya. A goat nourishes a family with protein-rich milk, cheese, and yogurt, and can offer a much-needed income boost by providing offspring and extra dairy products for sale at the market. It even provides fertilizer that can dramatically increase crop yields!"

FREAKING AWESOME!!!! I could not be happier with any other gift! It was seriously!! Sooooo awesome! And I loved that they had come together to do this!! And not just that.. they had more money to purchase a couple other gifts, that I get to choose from (such as clean water, education or health)... Seriously... I could not explain how thrilled I was for this goat... Am I odd? hahahah :)

You want one? Or a duck, a pair of chickens, or even better ... a COW?! www.worldvision.org

Land of the Lost Cake

Soooo... :) Land of the Lost.. yeah... I had definitely never heard of that before this cake. hahah :) So Ray requested this cake for his friend's birthday and it was definitely a chance for me to do the whole volcano thing... which I've been itching to do.. Which, I have to say, I was bummed I didn't have the time to make actually move, bubble or have smoke come out.. but next time!

Anyways! So here is the cake! We've got the jewel things, whatever they used to travel around, with Jolly Ranchers, there's Grumpy the dinosaur in front of their cave, the Gold & Green Sleestacks, the family and then the Cha-Ka in the corner. haha :) The space in the middle was for where the Happy Birthday message went in but I took this picture, obviously, before I did that... ;)

The cave and volcano and floor are all cake & frosting & covered in fondant.. and all the figures (including Grumpy =P who was a pain to keep together) and rocks and trees are all made out of Gumpaste and the leaves out of Royal icing.. and the lava is red (white) chocolate...

Here is a comparison from the show to how they came out.. hahahahah :)

The Sleestacks:

The family that find themselves in this land after falling down a waterfall:

The Cha-Ka:

Grumpy, the T-Rex:

Definitely an interesting cake... even watched a few episodes... keke :) Very... interesting... hahah :)

Oh! And apparently they're doing a remake w/ Will Ferrell coming out next year! Crazy how things come back!
