Sushi Cupcakes for Jeff

SOooooo!! I made some cupcakes that look like sushi for Jeff's Birthday... man... stayed up SOoooo late.. *yawn* Anyways... not too bad.. made them in like 5 hours or so... I cheated tho - used mix cakes & pre-made frosting... but man... i had to cut up so much different candies... but definitely fun...

Pretty much vanilla and lemon cupcakes and vanilla frosting... then black/green fondant for seaweed... and coconut or white sprinkles for "rice"..

As for the toppings..
Jellybeans for the "eggs" (upper right)
a piece of lemon cake for the Tamago (Egg) Roll (lower Right),
A mini marshmallow, a few sour straws, and pieces of gummy worms for the California Roll, (upper middle),
A cut berry gummy for the Tuna Roll (lower middle),
Cut-up orange gummy slices for the Salmon (upper left)
Cut-up peach gummies for Tuna (middle left)
And Food-color-spray-painted marshmallows for the Shrimp (lower left)...

Anyways... that's about it! It was pretty cool... definitely a first.... lots of shaping for each sushi cupcake... Makes me want to get an airbrush though, cuz I loved making those shrimp things... :)

Now that i look at it... my shrimp look like salmon... dagnabit. Oh well! :)

HAHAHAHA!! Auuughh. Those look so good. You did such a fantastic job!!!!!

I wonder if we can think of something more realistic for the rice? Not that yours don't look perfect...cuz they do, but the fish part look soooo freaking real! I love it. Good job..oh my! I want to eat that whole tray, but not as healthy as real sushi.

Did you put any wasabi and ginger on the side? hahah.

LOL. Dude, I look at those and then look back down at your monster cupcakes...and there is just a huge talent increase over the last several months...good job!

hahahah yeah... well Keith made a lot of the monster cupcakes... hahahahahah =) Keith just helped me roll out some of the seaweed this time. hahaha ;)

Yeah - last night at 3 AM i was like.. Doh! I forgot to do the wasabi & ginger.. but it was really late and I had used up all my fondant... so I just said forget it. ;)

Yah! i dunno! First what popped in my head was the white sprinkles that are longer like.... longer sprinkles but I couldn't find any! And then the lil white sprinkles looked a lil weird but I didn't know if the guy was allergic to coconut so I made some coconut and some sprinkles...

Awww.. hehe :) Thanks! =) Yah - it was a lot fun making them! Love making fun and yummy stuff... :) And I love a challenge! haha! =) Just haven't created any desserts that move... yet.. haha :)

I just hoped it wasn't weird eating sweet-sushi... hahah :) Super glad you liked them! :)

Gah! But it's kinda lame the filler cupcakes weren't taken out! They look so odd sitting amongst the sushi.. I just stuck them in there for the car ride so the rest wouldn't topple over... oh wellz... :)

Yep, quite the rage at the office. Way to make the rookie Keith popular ;) I did point out a fatal flaw in this plan to Keith, however: the bar has now been set extremely high. Scott may attack when his birthday rolls around and all we get him is a black eye.

Because we're going to punch him. In the face. A lot. Because we love. With our fists. A lot.

I don't mind if your fists are covered in frosting. So when I am nothing more then a bloody stump on the floor following the pummeling I can lick my wounds and enjoy the yummy goodness of frosting.

I will make sure Keith brings cans of frosting that day then... ;)

LOL! Mr. Jeff - There's something else I've been meaning to make for you for years... Every time I think I'm going to go start it - I get pulled away to do something else... like raise my kids... HAHA :) One day, my friend! ;)
